The Bodrum Culinary Retreat

Day 1 (Saturday): Arrival

When you arrive in Bodrum, we will either meet you at the Airport or the Cruise Port and take you to Yarbasan Holiday Homes where you will be staying in one of our houses. The houses are a part of the Yarbasan Stone Houses which is an architecturaly noticed unique housing Project aimed to protect the ancient Halikarnasus in a modern way. The location is mostly called a fairy tale by our guests. Tonight a welcome dinner will be avaiting you at our Erenler Sofrasi which is located at the center of the village wher you will be introduced to South Western Cuisine of Turkey. (D)

Day 2 ( Sunday ): First Cooking Class and Market visit for a start to Turkish Cuisine

After breakfast, a Small lecture about the local produce and cuisine will be given by our Chef and will be followed by a market trip to one of the local markets where you will be buying the ingredients for the a hands on cooking session. Today you will start Cooking meze’s which is the name for starters in Turkish cooked with fresh vegetables and fruits. 5 Different courses will be cooked today and tasted with a glass of fine Turkish wine. At dinner you will be tasting 3 different Turkish wines. (B,L,D)

Day 3 ( Monday ): A Culinary Cruise on a gulet Yacht

Gulet’s are traditional wooden yachts built in Bodrum, in the former years for fishing and sponge hunting , with the rise of the Blue Cruise concept Gulet’s became spacious yachts for people to enjoy the untouched bays around the Aegean. It is a perfect way to enjoy swimming and the blue waters of the Mediterranean aswell as local cuisine. Every Monday from April to November we set sail on a spaciously built wooden yacht, the owner is a gifted cook she will be cooking lunch for you to be served on board and will share some of her recipes while you will cruise along the blue bays of the Bodrum Peninsula and will have a chance to swimm. Day 4 (Tuesday): Wine & Cheese tasting tour to Ecological Farm

Bodrum was one the of the major exporters of wine in the Ancient times At the wineyards we will visit ancient grapes were spotted by archeologists. An enthusiastic couple have started an ecological farm and wineyard and we will be visiting them today to learn about wine making in the ancient times and tasting their wine and home made cheese at a breath taking location surrounded by olive trees. Challange night to night, when you return from Wine tasting.You will find some ingredients in your fridges and we will be expecting you to cook tonight Every body will bring one dish to the table for dinner and we will choose the best one and there will be a prize for this. Day 5 (Wednesday) : Cookery Workshop Classical Turkish Cuisine & Farmers Market

After breakfast, a market trip to Ortakent Farmers market where you will be buying the ingredients for the afternoons hands on cooking session. Today you will learn to cook 5 Different courses.

Bodrum is very well known with its Restaurants and bars and nightlife. Tonight we will be taking you out to central Bodrum 15 minutes from our place. (B,L)

Day 6 (Thursday) : Traditional Bread Making and Mantı ( Turkish Ravioli) Rolling Class

We will take you to Kizilagac which is about 15 minutes drive in the morning to learn to make local bread over wood fire and a breakfeast will be served.

Which includes home made jams, self harvested olives, free range chicken eggs etc. Afterbreakfast we will return to Yarbasan you will have some free time to enjoy the pool or the beaches or walk around the Tangerine Orchards.

At the afternoon cooking session you will learn to make Turkish Pasta’s manti served with Yoghurt or Piruhi served with basil and pine nuts. You will also taste these at a late lunch.

Farewell Dinner at a famous Fish Restaurant by the sea. (B,L,D)

Day 7 (Friday) : Last Cooking Session and Market Visit of the week.

After breakfast at Yarbasan, you will be going to Bodrum’s largest food market on a guided tour, after returning to our kitchen with the produce we liked another full menu course cooking class will follow and the meal will be served with a glass of wine as usual. Our classes will be over by 3 P.M. we will take you to the airport for your flights.

Extensions are possible for just for a couple of days of relaxation .

Notes:
In the summer season many cultural events like concerts, exhibitions etc. take place, it is very difficult to list them beforehand but we will let you know of them at the time of booking.
