A cooking class that illustrates the communalities of different cuisines that had an impact on the living culture of Istanbul residents all through the ages.
A DAY WITH ŞEMSA
 
You are cordially invited to join Chef Şemsa Denizsel and participate in the unusual opportunity to experience the restaurant business through the eyes of a chef.
 
Rise and Shine!  Join Chef at 5:00 a.m. to tour the Wholesale Produce Market. Work with Şemsa as she inspects every product from tomatoes  to eggplant in her pursuit for only the highest quality and freshest ingredients. There really is no telling what will be on the special board until after the "market run". You will also stop by her fish monger to check the best available for todays menu.
 
You will then return to the kitchen and start your day at the restaurant.  This where the real work day begins! Your day will continue observing tasks in many of the stations.
Learn mis en place, and learn how Şemsa’s kitchen works.
 
Throughout the day Şemsa  is constantly working with a range of staff, line cooks, interns and dishwashers, hands on coaching and teaching the best ways to handle and prepare the products purchased fresh that day. Şemsa changes her menu seasonally to reflect the freshest ingredients in what is now commonly called "from the farm to the plate" cooking.
This is your chance to experience the way a restaurant kitchen is run,  with passion to present a quality dining experience. 
 
For lunch you will  join us and enjoy the days menu.
 
Chef Şemsa  looks forward to seeing you after lunch to teach you how to prepare one of the restaurants most popular dish, CHITIR!

HANDS ON EXPERIENCE IN A TURKISH RESTAURANT WITH A WELL KNOWN TURKISH CHEF!

We offer participants an opportunity for a hands-on experience in a real, working Turkish restaurant kitchen. Participants will have the opportunity to prepare and cook with Chef Semsa Denizsel in her well-known restaurant , Kantin.

Classes can be organized from one to three days for maximum three participants on same day.

TURKISH CUISINE WITH A SLOW FOOD CHEF!

Treat yourself to a cooking class with Tangor Tan, a Slow Food Chef cooking Turkish Cuisine using good, fair, clean seasonal and fresh products.

Tangor graduated from the University of Gastronomy Sciences in Pollenzo, Italy which is established by the Slow Food Organization and has worked as chef in numerous prestigious kitchens of Istanbul. Nowadays he is a Ph.D candidate on Anthropology .
Chef Tangor teaches custom designed gourmet culinary classes for Turkish Flavours. Learn to prepare an authentic Turkish menu in a 4 hour hands-on cooking course. You will prepare a four course meal. Lunch with what you have prepared will follow.
Instruction is in English. Recipes are geared to the home cook. Guests are supplied with aprons as well as detailed recipe booklets that are theirs to keep. Classes are on request, based upon availability.

Optional visit to the Fish & Flower market or the Spice Market are also available.

THREE DAYS TURKISH COOKING COURSE

A real Turkish home cooking course in Istanbul from home cooks with visits to food shops and markets. Each participant will be able to taste the traditional Turkish dishes they have prepared during the classes.
